Good Carbs
When it comes to a good diet, there are good carbs and bad carbs. What exactly are good carbs and bad carbs? Well, there is a big difference. But, it can get a bit complicated, because even though they are called bad carbs, even bad carbs can be good carbs at some point or another. It all depends on how you use them and when you consume them. On this site, we have everything you'll ever need to know about carbs, good and bad. Almost anything can be beneficial to you within reason or moderation, and anything can be bad for you if you abuse it. The same goes for carbs. Good carbs can be bad and bad carbs can be good. It depends on the situation.

Good Carbs: What Are They?

When we talk about good carbs we are talking about complex carbs. These carbs are the type of carbs that your diet should comprise mostly of. These are the carbs that take a while to break down, giving you energy throughout the day. You usually want to eat these in the morning to get a good start on the day. Foods like oatmeal and cereal are great to eat for breakfast. They give you the basics you need to start your day and keep going until you get your morning break, or even lunchtime.

Bad Carbs: What Are They?

When we talk about bad carbs, we are talking about simple carbs. These carbs are the type of carbs that should be eaten before or after certain events (working out). What they do is give you a boost of energy because they break down so rapidly. It's like an athlete eating a candy bar or an apple before they take the field. They need that rapid boost of energy, but they come crashing down quickly. After working out, these carbs help speed up the process of rebuilding muscle. So, in a way, they can be considered good carbs -- to some extent.
