There are literally millions of us now who are concerned about our foods having low carbs. It might be a bit difficult at the beginning, as it is with any big lifestyle change. But the key is to find a variety of recipes and foods that you like and will satisfy you throughout your day and lead you not into temptation. Many of the ready to eat products at the grocery store that state they have low carbs have sacrificed a lot of the flavor when reducing the carbs and also many of them actually have small amounts of hidden cars that can add up fast and throw off you carb counting.
But you can find more then enough recipes and tips to keep you full the whole day and not pining after those things that you used to indulge in. Doing a quick search online will provide you with enough recipes and tips for months!
Snacking with low carbs
There are so many low carb snacks out there, that we narrowed it down a bit to give you an idea of the things that you can get away with- without the guilt and with low carbs:
How about a little prosciutto wrapped around some soft cheeses like goat cheese or some that have a nice herb flavor. Add pine nuts or toasted almonds inside with some spinach. A great, salty, satisfying treat!
Snack Mediterranean style with feta cheese, parsley, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, cucumbers, olives, and basil. Mix up all of the ingredients and place on top of sliced cucumbers for an elegant snack that is also low carbs.
Add cumin, chili powder, or cinnamon to spice up your popcorn a bit. Variety is the spice of life and anything goes when it comes to topping popcorn. You can add a lot of flavor for the next movie you watch. Or take some to work to fill you up until lunch or dinner comes around. It's an easy snack that you can feel good about eating.
Going to your local library is a also a great idea because there you will find plenty of low carb cookbooks and can simply pick out the recipes that you like best, make copies of them and keep them with all your other low carb recipes in your collection.
There are plenty of good ideas that involve low carbs and will keep you in shape and on the right track with your diet. Don't let your diet get you down because you have to leave behind so many of the things you once devoured. See it instead as an opportunity to try new things and find new favorites. Use your imagination and be creative or simply check out a few books or look online for recipes. Low carbs does not have to be boring or overly restrictive!
